Shows how your app name, subtitle and descriptions will look in the App Store and Google Play, and checks each against the store's own limit. For app makers preparing a listing.

How to use it

Enter your listing text and, if you like, add screenshots. The preview updates as you type, and nothing leaves your browser.

  1. Enter the app name, the App Store subtitle, the Google Play short description and the full description, or load the example.
  2. Add screenshots from your computer to see them in both frames.
  3. Look for the "cut here" marker in each frame: the text after it is over the limit.
  4. Read the limits list to see how far each field is from its limit.

How Reavlo tests this

The checks are plain counting, run in your browser. The limits come from Reavlo's data, and each shows the date it was checked against the store's own page.

  1. Each text is counted in characters as people see them, so an emoji is one character.
  2. The count is compared with the limit the store documents for that field: name, subtitle, short description and full description.
  3. When a text is over the limit, the frame marks the first character that does not fit.

Limits. The stores do not document where they fold a text behind a "more" link, so only the hard limits are marked. The frames are schematic, not a copy of either store's interface, and the stores may change their requirements. Screenshots are shown but their sizes are not checked here: use the screenshot resizer for that.

Questions

Which limits does the tool check?

The App Store name and subtitle (30 characters each), the Google Play app name (30) and short description (80), and the full description in both stores (4,000). Each comes from the store's own documentation.

Why is the full description checked against both stores?

Both stores allow 4,000 characters, so one description is compared with each limit and shown in both frames.

Why is there no 'more' marker?

Neither store documents the point where a text is folded, and a number without a source would be a guess. The tool marks only the limits the stores publish.

Are my text and screenshots uploaded?

No. They are read and shown in your browser tab only, and screenshots are released when you remove them or leave the page.
