Something looks wrong? Tell us what looks wrong

Shows how your product name, tagline, thumbnail and gallery will look as a Product Hunt card and page, and checks the tagline length and picture sizes against Product Hunt's own figures. For makers preparing a launch.

How to use it

Enter your listing details and add your pictures. The preview updates as you type, and nothing leaves your browser.

  1. Enter the product name and the tagline, or load the example.
  2. Add the thumbnail and your gallery pictures from your computer.
  3. Check the tagline length and the cut marker, if there is one, in the card and page frames.
  4. Read the picture lines: each says whether the size and shape match the recommended size.

How Reavlo tests this

The checks are plain arithmetic, run in your browser. The limits and picture sizes come from Reavlo's data, and each shows the date it was checked against Product Hunt's own page.

  1. The tagline is counted in characters as people see them, so an emoji is one. It is compared with the length Product Hunt documents.
  2. A picture has the recommended shape when its width-to-height ratio is within 2% of the recommended size. Otherwise it is reported as a different shape.
  3. A picture of the right shape is smaller than recommended when either side is below the recommended size, and larger when both are at least that size.
  4. The gallery needs at least two pictures, as Product Hunt asks.

Limits. Product Hunt documents no length for the name, so the name is shown but not checked. The frames are schematic, not a copy of Product Hunt's interface, and the platform may change its requirements.

Questions

Why is the name not checked?

Product Hunt does not document a length limit for the name. A number without a source would be a guess, so the tool shows the name and checks nothing.

What does 'different shape' mean for a picture?

The picture's width-to-height ratio is not the same as the recommended size. Product Hunt may crop it, so it is worth preparing a version with the recommended shape.

Are my pictures uploaded?

No. They are read and shown in your browser tab only, and released when you remove them or leave the page.

How many gallery pictures do I need?

Product Hunt asks for at least two. The tool tells you how many are still missing.
